Im a beginner in spanish. speak it less than 1 hr a week now used to speak it about 4-5 a week but not now.

but i find that its much harder to be understood in spanish because of all the changes to the end of the words. english everything is more concrete and the verbs basically stay the same except for adding a" S "to the end of it.

i would say to be perfect in the english language is much harder though.

would are some thoughts on this'''?

I GET CONFUSED BECAUSE THERE ARE SOOO MANY TENSES of each verb u can kno a few tenses of a verb and when someone uses it in substancial case it confuses you.....hard for me to understand as well. i think spanish for beginners is very hard to understand over english. because of the things being concrete once again.

I live in america and not forced to hear spanihs alot thats probally why i had problems with understanding. that also maybe a reason why i have these opinions of the languages.

( just asking for opinions ....someone who is trilingual would be best. ex. portuguese , english, n spanish.)

Please, be careful with your spelling. There are native Spanish speaking people here trying to learn English. "u" , "kno", "i" and other misspelling (garbage) like that should be avoided. I am not a native English or Spanish speaker and I make many mistakes in both languages, but I try to do my best. So let's give everyone a chance to learn correctly.

I think your view of the English language is biased by the fact that you are a native speaker. I believe it's generally accepted that English grammar is much more complex than Spanish grammar. All their verbs fit in three conjugations, ar, er, ir. Can you think of anything similar for English verbs? I don't even know if we can use the term "regular" when we refer to English verbs. Even if so, I'm sure the porportion of Irregular to regular is much higher than in Spanish. And for ALL those Spanish verb tenses, we have a parallel in English for most of them. Spanish just seems so complex to you now since you're being overwhelmed with having to learn all the new vocabulary was well as Spanish grammar (and if you're like the rest of us..relearn all your English grammar.) Hang in there, it gets easier, and ocassionallly even makes sense. Look at it this way, how many years have you been studying English and would you feel confident if you had to take a grammar test'

I'm Thai and trilingual. Both English and Spanish aren't my native tongues. I have learn English since I was 3 and most of Thai students study English in primary school. I find that English is very complicated and difficult. Most Thai students can't use it well. We're forced to study English by system and social.

You are far convenient than me, right? You can go anywhere in the world because you are native English speaker. You're not forced to learn any other languages. Since you open your mind to study a new language. I see that it's a good thing.

To be honest, I think Spanish is a lot easier than English. It is spelled logically and doesn't have too many words like English. I don't even know how to use tenses and change the verbs according to the tense and person because Thai has no tense and the verbs are still the same in any sentences. Now I understand how to use English because I have studied longer than 10 years.

I am extremely sorry for my spelling. Sometimes I get caught up in the "internet language." I should be typing in spanish anyhow, but i took like a 2 month break because I had lost my job and that was where my practice was. Now I don't have any drive to learn more and more.

Another thing is I have a bad speech impediment in english. ( a stutter or stammer) but it's more of sound blocks and not the actual stutter but its all a part of it. I am fluent in the words that i know, but because about twice a sentence i get into these halfsecond - 2 second pauses I am misunderstood. This is another reason why I lost interest because I will never be able to be fully understood unless i fix my speech in MY language first. Therapy hasn't exactly helped me, but that was when i was much younger.

Any ideas to keep me motivated. I need someone every day with me to keep me motivated. I learned a lot of spanish and very quickly in about 7-8 months then I stopped ( my break right now ) A lot of people at the church that i attended were very proud of me. If i had a girlfriend or a bestfriend that worked with spanish with me that would be awesome, but I lost my car ( wreck ) so now I can't attend my church with my ex co-worker how I used to.

yea. I'm not being biased or at least I'm not trying to be. But I find that it's much harder to understand spanish because even when you know the base word you can still be utterly confused. Now that is ridiculous. I hate it when i know the words of the sentence, but cant figure out what the person is meaning. Now that is frustrating. But when the verbs in spanish become reflexive that's even more difficult because you are thinking of who is doing the action and then you think that he/she/it did the action to it self. me muevo ( example ) Hard to understand when spoken in a conversation and quickly.
