Escribi:
A veces los trabajos (de la vanguardia) son repletos de profunidad, y a veces salen de la nariz, como dice Ramon.

Pero me pregunto si debiera haber usado estar en lugar de ser.

I thought i would just explain a little. I know most people or at least a lot think that the difference between ser and estar is permanance and impermanance. However this is a common misconception. We use the estar with the adjective muerto/a and i do not know what is more permanant than death. Also we would use estar to describe the location of a huge building, but that won't be moving tommorow. The best way to look at the difference between ser and estar is to view their latin roots.

Estar: refers to the physical state of your body like your health, how you feel at the moment, where you are, and ect.

ser : refers to the inner being of something like your personality or their physical description like hair color, size, and ect.

I see how it is easy to get the idea of permanance and impermanance, but it is wrong, if you do look at it in this way you should never have to worry about guessing any longer.

I think we came out of the topic, so, you should use "están repletos de profundidad", like "mi libro está lleno de sandeces" or "tus palabras están llenas de optimismo".
