Handfasting - cómo se dice en español?

Por favor, does anyone know the spanish word for handfasting? A handfasting is a Neopagan wedding. Otherwise we'll just have to stick with 'boda' for the spanish speaking guests...

Yes! I'm sure reading that in spanish I can say you that it's "Atadura de manos" if you look it up on google or internet, you can find that is correct for this neopagan wedding.

Oh! I found that theres is a common way to say it, but not properly neopagan the common way would be: "Esponsales" http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esponsales and the english equivalent would be engagement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engagement

First of all thank you!

Handfastings comes in various flavours, depending on tradition and, of course, intent. I have not read the above (as my spanish still sucks big time), but they can be for ''a year and a day'', or as an engagement, or for life like any other wedding.

In our case we are already legally married (Regístro Civil in June) so this is our spiritual symbolic wedding ceremony, with friends and family. We had to wait a while with the celebrations etc because so many guests having to travel (read cost) long distance to get here and needed to plan in advance. I'm still wearing my engagement ring... Also, the legal bit took more than 2 months to get sorted out, so I'm glad we have that over and done with!
