I am of the opinion that both are interchangeable in the following Spanish sentences
I have the ability to talk about my feelings without shame and fear.
I am capable of talking about my feelings without shame or fear.

Yo tengo la habilidad de hablar de mis sentimientos sin vergüenza o miedo

Yo tengo la capacidad de hablar de mis sentimientos sin vergüenza o miedo.

Somehow 'capacidad ? does not hit the spot for me in the sample sentence. Of course one can avoid the problem by just writing
Yo puedo hablar de mis sentimientos sin miedo o vergüenza.

Maybe if you just said, "Soy capaz de hablar de mis sentimientos..."

I
capacidad is used more frequently in sentences that describe measurments

like capacidad de una botella
teatro de mucha capacidad
una persona de gran capacidad

As far as I'm concerned, the English sentences are identical, but I think you're asking about the Spanish sentences.
