Ella enseñaba una clase.

"Ella enseñaba una clase" means that she was showing the room intended to teach.
"Ella enseñaba a una clase", without futher explanation, is a bit poor as a sentence but it could be understood as she was giving lessons to a group of pupils.

Creo que la forma más natural es:

"Ella estaba dando clases" o "ella daba clases"

En español, las clases se "dan". No sé si con "a class" te refería al grupo de alumnos o a la clase propiamente dicha.

I agree with Lucho (who, by the way, is a very welcome addition to this forum), but I think clase would have to be in the singular here. Here is a possible scenario.

  • I tried to call her.
  • Did you reach her?
  • No, she was teaching a class (of students).

"Ella estaba dando una clase."
