Okay, here is another difficult word for me. Tattleling.

So, do you guys like chismiando or informando, or how about communicando?

Elsa.

Sounds sort of 19th century to me (from reading not personal experience).. I believe "tattle-tale" (refers to a person) is still fairly widely used by/about children but in adult contexts such uses have been largely replaced by criminal cant (largely due to police dramas on TV). e.g. rat (rat on/out, rat-fink), squeal(er), stool pigeon, fink and, in Great Britain, grass(er).

Elsa,
If you want something a little less negative you might use the word "soplar". Let's see what our native speakers think of that. I have often heard the word used in the context you are looking for.

Heidita, can chismorrear mean to tattle? Tattle is usually used when one child tells on another.

"Billy broke the window."

I think chivar(se) is used in this meaning. No?

Elsa, also remember that tattling can be a verb form or a noun (gerund), and the Spanish will differ accordingly.

Tattling is not nice = Chivarse no es algo bueno
He was tattling = Se estaba chivando

Tattling is not nice = Chivarse no es algo bueno

We would normally say: ..nada bueno, here , James

It is is only used for children, chivarse is the word!

Now that you mention it, of course! Thanks.

So, chivarse is closer to tattle, right? We only use tattle for children, or when adults act like children.

It is the word, but only used for children. if, for example in the job, somebody else on you...we would be talking about "chismorreo".
Cotilleo is more like everyday cotilleo, like what the neighbour from 5C did.

Chivarse souns like a slang:

Rajarse, abrirse.

If you are looking for a little less negative connotation, could be used:
Delatar, acusar o descubrir.

But tattle always has a negative connotation. We always tell children not to tattle on other children, and being a tattle-tale is not positive. Furthermore, while it isn't slang, it is definitely colloquial, which I think also applies to chivarse.

I agree ( You can say that again).
Dicho entre un grupo de amigos:

Te chivaste/ rajaste/ abriste con la maestra!

Solo pensé que hay formas de hablar de lo mismo en una atmósfera ( o nivel ya sea educativo o cultural ) donde ese tipo de coloquialismos no son adecuados.
La maestra no le diría al director de la escuela:

Me enteré por que uno de mis alumnos víno se chivó/ rajó/ abrió conmigo.
O a su alumno: > Chivarse/ rajarse/ abrirse no es algo bueno.

In my opinion iI would not use informando o comunicando instead of chismeando.
because chismeando implies that one is saying things that people dont want other people to know. I think that chismeando implies that one is telling other people secrets. Although techcnically informando and comunicando could be correct if using the word" mal as in, my neighbor is tattleing to my wife about my life style when I was single. Mi vecino le esta informando a mi esposa todo lo que hice cuando era soltero.

I am sorry, I typed the wrong examples ( I was on the phone and typing at the same time)
I should of written the following:
Mi vecino le informo a mi esposa mi mala conducta cuando me dejo solo por una semana.

Mi vecino le comunico a mi esposa, mi mala conducta cuando me dejo solo por una semana.

I think this is correct, I am learning to comunicate in Spanish. I am also learning how to type.
