Can anyone tell me how 'ing' usage in English is translated into Spanish? I am not sure about this. I have looked at past responses on here, and I still do not understand. Anyone have a good website that explains'''? Thanks - Marco

-ing = -ando or -iendo

This is used to form the present participle or the gerund.

For -ar verbs, drop the -ar from the infinitive and add -ando
hablar
habla
hablando

For -er and -ir verbs, drop the -er or -ir and add -iendo
comer
com
comiendo

vivir
viv
viviendo

Be careful with the -er, ir verbs because it there are 3 vowels coming together, change the i to y
leer
le
leiendo (wrong)
leyendo (right)

an "ing" also appears in the the present indicative of a verb ie,
Yo canto - i sing, i do sing, i am sing"ing"
Tu cantas - you sing, you do sing, your are sing"ing"
etc
etc
etc
