Hello, I am just trying to learn Spanish and working with a company in Spain. I get the "idea" of most of it, but I just want to be sure I understand everything fully.

I too agree that spelling matters. If we do not have some standard that we follow then as time goes on we will not be able to understand much of what has been written before. That already has happened. Think how challenging it can be to read Shakespeare or Don Quijote. Not only is the spelling different, at times, but of course words are also different. If we as a society are not careful we will struggle to learn the lessons of the past and be doomed to repeat them again.
