James, does "pienso" mean "I think"? After I checked the dictionary, it shows me that the meaning is "fodder, feed". Could you please explain it to me?

Muchas gracias,

Marco

Marco, I replied to a question that had no context with an answer that had no context. "Yo pienso" means "I think," and comes from pensar. If Danielle wants a real answer, she can provide some context, and maybe even start her own thread, rather than hijacking this one.

When it means "blond woman" iIt can also be written as "huera". However, with the "h" spelling, it also means "rotten", "empty".

Gabacho means French, not American.

Yes, but here in the US and Mexico, at least, it is used primarily to mean American. In fact, I bet most native speakers here don't even know the original meaning.

I should add that the jump from French to American is not surprising, given the history of Mexico. The famous Cinco de Mayo celebrates the defeat of the French army at Puebla in 1862, and that was only a few years after the Mexican-American War (1846-48). So it's natural that Mexicans would conflate all foreign invaders of that time and refer to them by the same name.

Gabacho is somewhat more pejorative than gringo, but both words can be used with varying strength, and can even be positive in some contexts.

Well I don't want to be known as rotten lol. My boyfriend calls me huera I wasn't sure how it was spelled. I am a blonde so guess it fits. Thank you.
