Also synonymous others are used very much of hermosa like= bella, guapa, linda, preciosa, bonita, etc...
I agree with you both.
In Argentina when men talk about women it's common to say:
Es linda
Es hermosa
Es preciosa
and more informal between friends:
Está re buena
When a man addresses a woman and wants to tell her she's beautiful he says:
Sos hermosa (in Spain the verb is changed to "Eres hermosa")
Sos muy linda
Guapa, bonita or bella are not very much used in everyday language.
Hope it helps
No Eddy. Apuesto es un hombre (al menos en Argentina no se usa apuesta para la mujer)
Apuesta es "bet" "gamble" en español
En España tampoco diríamos "apuesta" para una mujer. Como dice Benz, suena como una partida de póker.
Addendum: in Spain, "Está buena" is used more with a sexual tone, and especially to refer to her body. Let's say it doesn't sound like a poetic compliment. ![]()
I guess this is connected. I remember this sentence from a mexican, who told it was often said as a compliment, maybe slang?
I don't remember correctly what it means - something nice about a girls face?
Chica carrita, está buen hecha.
I don't know the expression, but grammatically it should be "bien hecha", as adjectives cannot modify other adjectives, but adverbs can.
Only wanted to add some very colloquial ones:
estás que te mueres
estás que te sales
Gracias Benz y Lazarus
Ví la palabra apuesto en el diccionario, y pensando, como un inglés, solo tengo que cambiar la última letra para hecerlo feminina.
