Just a note: although "ya" can frequently be translated as "already"
i.e. Ya lo hice.. I already did it..
many times.. as in this case.. a better translation of "ya" is "now"
i.e. "I can now open the e-mails.."

Yeah, I struggled with the "pude" also..
Guess that's what makes translating so hard..
Sometimes you have to "go around the block" to come up with an equivalent phrase that sounds natural in the target language.
In my interpreting classes, they call it "normalizing" the translation.
Oh, well, if it were easy, then we wouldn't need human interpreters..
So far, anyway, they haven't been able to come up with any computerized translator that can distinguish between all these shades of meaning, and what sounds awkward.
