The context is in the past pero its like " (it) was founded by...in this time frame" entiende'

Here's the rule I was taught: "fue fundado" can be used if the person or agent that did the founding, is indicated, in which case you would also use "por": "...fue fundado por Juan", or for example, "la casa fue constuido por mis padres". If you're speaking generally, without indicating who founded it, best to use "se fundo'", or for example: "la casa se construyo en el ano 1920".
