Translation please: "Hold (your) breath for about 10 seconds"
Hello,
This is the first post I place and I hope I do it correctly, if not please advise.
I need help translating "Hold (your) breath..." It's for a training that's telling the employee to hold his breath for 10 seconds. Would it be "Detenga su respiración por diez segundos"'

Detenga su respiración por diez segundos
Aguante la respiration durante 10 segundos
That's what we say here in Spain.
Well done, a post in the correct place and with a title!!!
Welcome to the forum!

Heidita and Samuel,
What do kids say when they are playing at the pool?
"Let's see who can hold their breath longest."
"I held my breath for one minute!"
I have no doubt that detenga su respiración is correct, but it sure does sound formal to me. Is there a more colloquial way to express this'
Ah, that sounds good. Thanks.
So the second kid would say "(Lo) aguanté (por) un minuto" (knowing that the context is holding breath)'
In any case, children often use "bucear" to indicate holding breath.
Puedo bucear durante 2 minutos.
Also can be used in this case: "Contenga la respiración por 10 segundos".
A think "Detenga" is similar to "dejar de respirar" "contener" means "take a breath and then to hold it" (tomar un respiro y contenerlo).
