"School spirit" is a set phrase in American English, and is parallel to "team spirit" and "community spirit." In all three cases spirit refers to a strong sense of belonging to a group. The last one, community spirit, can be translated as civismo. Too bad we can't say escolismo for school spirit!
This same question was asked twice on WordReference, but there was no good answer. It seems to be very difficult to translate. I found a few school websites that included Spanish translations, but they just used the English word spirit.
On another site, "School Spirit Day is every Friday" was translated as "Día del Espíritu Escolar es cada viernes." (For non-Americans, school spirit day is when students gather in a plaza and cheer for their sports teams, etc. They may wear their school colors that day.)
The web page for a private school (with uniforms) gives this translation:
Occasionally, we will have school spirit or "regular" clothes days, in which children can wear jeans. Parents will be notified about those days through the weekly newsletter or school calendar.
