Some Latino stereotypes that I know of (Please note these are not MY beliefs, simply stereotypes of which I am aware):
Defensive and protective by nature.
Fiercely proud, with a strong sense of family and obligation.
Provincial in the sense that they have a fierce nationalism. Salvadorian vs. Chilean vs. Puerto Rican vs. Hondurian, etc.
Accents are very important to them, see the last point.
Hair is very important. It has to be perfect.
Food is a very important part of the culture.
Machismo.
Homophobic.
The women are vicious in a fight.
Some of the more tongue-in-cheek ones (Again, the views expressed here do not represent the author's, merely are being presented as hearsay):
Every Latino owns a knife (and will use it in a heartbeat)
Latinas have the best booty in the world. (Okay, THIS one I agree with. Vida Guerra, nuff said)
If it isn't gold, it isn't worth a thing
Every Latino guy is named Pedro, Carlos, Juan, or Jose
Every one's last name is either Sanchez or Gomez
Cheating on a Latina is the quickest route to death
Every Latino's car horn plays 'La Cucaracha'
I can't think of any more off the top of my head.
Please, I don't want to start a flame war. some of these are genuine stereotypes that I know the Latino community either embraces or struggles with. I want to start genuine discussion and make people smile at the same time.
Hol aJames, me supongo que quieres decir: vivid, en español es "vivo" "intenso"
vívido no existe que yo sepa.
What does "¿Tienes hambre? Acábo de hacer una sopita. Te sirvo'" mean?
Sorry if this is the wrong board or something. I'm still trying to figure them out.

Welcome to the forum!!
Please understand that I believe a stereotype develops from some bit of reality. But it eventually is applied as a rule or it is expected from all of the repesentative culture all the time. But here are a few I am aware of both positive and negative. It is amazing how a stereotype at some point becomes the ONLY way some people with characterize another culture---|as if ther is nothing more!
1. always late
2. hot tempered
3. horny
4. sexist
5. super religious
6. superstitious
7. very loyal
8. happy and friendly
9. drinkers
10. huge families
11. hard working
12 . lazy
13. short
14. dark-skinned
15. like spicy food
16. indirect--won't say whats really on their minds
17. super respectful
haha! OUCH!
we are only losers for now... i guess that makes u the (temporary) winner....
lol, competition, competition! we are so competitive kevin! (although i think that it might be getting misinterpreted on here...) and i will SOOOOOOO make more bets with you! haha, pick a game, pick a game!
Do you have a context'?
Welcome to the forum!
Roger - yeah, so true!
I'm new to the spanish culture, but in what I've learned so far I recognize most of it in what you wrote in the first part. I know not enough to be thinking of it as stereotypes, but I know what I've experienced in general. ![]()
For example, learning spanish is "not enough", I must try to learn the specific dialect as well, haha... And I never leave hungry visiting a spanish home. ![]()
Interesting list!
Of course there is more to a culture than simple characteristics, one or two characteristics doesn't do it. But in a context like here, these 17 you pointed out, can be ok meaningful in an attempt of describing the latinos. 5 or 6 of them could describe danish men, or english, but in a whole with the 17, never. You know what I mean'
