Hello slmart. The problem is that, it is pronounced differently in various parts of Spain and South America. The most common pronunciation that I've heard is that the X= sh. So it would sound like Shoy. When X is preceeded by a noun, it is virtually the same sound as English, but when it starts with an X it is the 'sh' sound which I mentioned earlier. But I've also heard it pronounced like the 'ch'...as in the Sottish 'Loch'. Hope this isn't too confusing!...Jool.
