1) Ya no voy de vacaciones muy a menudo ya que soy mayor.

2) Cuando mi familia y yo vamos de vacaciones, por lo general acampamos.

3) He ido de unas vacaciones en el pasado.

4) Para/En? mis segundas vacaciones, fui a Myrtle Beach.

5) Para/En? mis terceras vacaciones, fui a Wisconsin.

6) En este viaje también hice el water tubing(?) por primera vez.

This is my attempt and I'm sure I'll need corrections, lol.

  • I'm thinking "mayor" vs. "más viejo". Also, I'm not sure if the first "ya" in Q 1 is needed to give the same meaning. - Goldie_Miel Feb 15, 2012 flag

1.- "No PUEDO ir de vacaciones..." the rest is fine. "tengo" means "i have" like you own something.

2.- "Cuando mi familia y YO VAMOS" (when we go) "de vacaciones, por lo general VAMOS a acampar" In both cases the subject is plural even though it's divided in two, right?

3.- A literal translation of that sounds really weird, so my advice is you put something like "Yo he salido poco de vacaciones en mi vida" which means something like "I have gone on vacation just a few times in my life" ((hope that's what you want to say, if not, let me know and I'll try to help you))

4.- "Mis SEGUNDAS vacaciones fueron a Myrtle Beach".... OR (I think it sounds a bit better) "En mis segundas vacaciones fui a Myrtle Beach" (something like "For my second vacation I went to Myrtle Beach")

5.- Same: , just change Segundas for TERCERAS.... (remember in Spanish the adjectives match the noun in number and in gender, "Vacaciones" is female and plural, that is why you need to say primeras, segundas, terceras, cuartas, quintas, sextas, séptimas, octavas, novenas, décimas... etc (from 1 to 10).....

if you need to change the number to singular, in most adjectives you just take away the final S ("Una niña fea" -An ugly girl, or "Unas niñas feas"-Some ugly girls) , and also SOMETIMES, for changing it to masculine, you just change the A to an O (un niño feo/ unos niños feos)...

however some adjectives stay the same for both genders, like "Grande" ( "una niña grande" or "un niño grande")

Don't get confused just because "primero" "segundo" and "tercero" have something to do with numbers, they're still adjectives.

6.- "En este viaje también PRACTIQUÉ ... (I really don't know a translation for water tubing, sorry) since I saw it is practiced in a couple of different ways I think it may have more than one name, but I really don't know, I'm very sorry

Your first sentence says

I have not go on holiday very often now that I'm older.

Yo no puedo ir de vacaciones muchas veces ahora.

Literally, I can not go on vacations many times now.

muchas veces could also be replaced with: con mucha frecuencia with much frequency muy a menudo little frequency I think these are all interchangable.

ahora means now and works much better than I'm older although your are older now than your were at any time before now

One down and 5 to go.

  • A group effort here would be just fine with me. - Spenco Feb 15, 2012 flag
  • Thank you!! I am a beginner and really trying but my structure and conjugations are definately my down fall! - waitsna Feb 15, 2012 flag
  • It can be tough until you get the hang of it. Keep at it. - Spenco Feb 15, 2012 flag

Cuando mi familia y yo vamos en vacaciones, nos por lo general ir a acampar.

In English:

When my family and I go on vacation, we generally go camping. my family goes I go ( not Me go on vacation. ) we go

and in your sentence it is a WE that both going on vacation and camping

In Spanish we go is vamos and nos is the WE that goes camping

I hope this helps. I cannot guarantee that it is entirely correct. Perhaps a really good native speaker will help you finish this. .
