Hi there,

I wanted to write a short note for my boyfriend using spanish, (although he doesn't speak it), and I was wondering if someone would make sure I am using the proper words and have actually worded this properly. I asked one of my clients, who speaks spanish, if he would be willing to help, and he was more than happy, but, unfortuanatly, he speaks very little english. I won't lie, I have tried using a translator, as well as tried forming the sentence myself, but would feel very silly if he read it, and i found out afterwards I was wrong, haha.

What i am trying to say is, "You are handsome and I love you. You are my world; You are everything to me."

"Eres guapo y te quiero. Tu eres mi mundo; eres todo para mi."

Also, would I use "te quiero" or "te amo" ?

Thank you!

Eres guapo y te amo. Tú eres mi mundo. Tú lo eres todo para mí.

te amo = I love you te quiero = I want you

Hope this helps.

  • Good. I believe that "te quiero" can also colloquially mean "I love you." I hear it used in songs lyrics as in "yo te quiero" - xocoyote Feb 15, 2012 flag

  • Yes, "te quiero" is "I love you", though literally "I want you". It is acceptable to say "Te quiero"/"I love you" to family, friends, significant others, etc. "Te amo" is generally for romantic relationships only. - Goldie_Miel Feb 15, 2012 flag
  • Okay. Sounds like "te amo" is more appropriate here. - xocoyote Feb 15, 2012 flag
  • Tienes razón, Xocoyote, usamos mucho "te quiero" con ese significado. Te amo suena más profundo, más apasionado. - Cordobesa Feb 15, 2012 flag

The first part "Eres guapo y te quiero" seems fine.

In the second sentence, "Tu" should have an accent over the u. Tú eres mi mundo.
The final part should also have the "tu" changed to and the "mi" changed to , but I am not sure if it is too rigid; there may be a colloquial way of saying "You are everything to me" of which I am not aware.
