Do I use the subjunctive when asking for favors?

¿Me puedes hacer el favor de apagar la luz? would work just fine

Or you could say using the conditional of hacer: Me harías el favor de apagar la luz

Neither one need the subjunctive. The subjunctive form is used for polite requests with Usted
