I have gathered, from the events of the past few days, that the owners of this forum are seeking to encourage young learners to frequent this site.

If this is indeed so, can you please explain to me why, every time I log on to Q&A, I am greeted by an advertisement, which is impossible to ignore because it includes sound, for Durex condoms?

It seems very inappropriate. Is it not possible for the moderators to block certain types of advertising, if it is unsuitable or offensive?

Hey.

I have also had this problem and I think it's really stupid.

Why would you want to have kids seeing dating site adds and adds for ADULT use?

Also, I know it is possible to remove adds in total. They were removed for people with a certain amount of reputation points.

  • I don't think they are now Cuddly :) - ian-hill Feb 15, 2012 flag
  • Only the top ad under the menu was removed for high reputation. All the others stayed there. - pesta Feb 15, 2012 flag

Install the Firefox web browser and AdBlock Plus plug-in. They eliminate the ads altogether.

  • I second this! I use it and haven't seen an ad in a month. - SonrisaDelSo Feb 15, 2012 flag

I'm against teen pregnancy.

  • I think we all are - so don't promote "young age" sex as the only option and Ok if a condom is used. - ian-hill Feb 15, 2012 flag

I'm a teenager and I often come to this site, but I've always just muted and ignored such ads when they've come on.

But I certainly agree that it is inappropriate and should not be displayed so boldly... (no matter the color) wink

It's a "business decision" - which should be cold, dispassionate, and rational. In fact, even children who click these ads will generate money for the site.

I agree it's stupid, but with all that's been going on here, it's not the worst thing they've done to the site. ::sigh::
