Information on the Palabra del Día thread

Question

Hola a todos,

Regretfully, I am going to stop posting the Palabra del Día, starting today.

I have discussed this with my corrector, DrVicente, and he feels the same, and he is also leaving the site and the correcting job.

When I came to Spanishdict, I couldn't speak a word of Spanish. Now, I can carry a conversation with any native really, and this is due in small part to Spanishdict, but in Great part to Heidi's learning threads, and her help.

I have made a lot of great friends through Spanishdict, and most of them I talk to on Skype regularly. I hope that the ones that I haven't talked to join me on Skype soon, so we can talk, have fun, practice our Spanish, whatever.

That is to say, I encourage everyone to meet us on Skype - it really is a lot of fun, and great practice!

I have really enjoyed all of your great answers on the Palabra del Día, and thanks for all of your participation in that thread.

It has truly been an honor working with you, Chris and it has definitely been a great experience correcting this thread. All the participants have been amazing and I thank you, all for sharing your time and experience with me. I consider the vast majority of you dear friends and I hope that our paths will cross once again in the near future because I enjoy learning from you as I hope you enjoyed learning what bit of knowledge that I had to offer you.

I feel so inadequate so frustrated and a little hurt . How can I adequately thank you two

Stalwarts for the incredible work that you both have done on our behalf .

Intellectually I know that the sun will rise and set again tomorrow , but emotionally

it will have lost its lustre and warmth , the anticipation of the new day dawning

This is such a shame. I have only recently joined and I have been enjoying SpanishDict so much and looking forward to learning so much. Thank you all for what you have done. I don't know what has happened but it must be very upsetting for people to decide to leave like this. I hope everyone can find another way to keep on learning and helping.

Although, technically, I am now breaking my vow to not actively participate for the time being, I have to post to note my appreciation for what you and DrVicente and done for me with this thread. Unfortunately, recognizing that I needed to put more effort in my oral skills (which lag way behind my written), I have neglected to take full advantage of the daily threads for several weeks; it never occurred to me that I would not be able to return when I was ready to put more attention to writing again. So many people have helped me on this site that I could not begin to name them all. I fully support your decisions, and obviously, as I stated in a thread that was deleted, I have made the same decision, and so in that thread I stated that I could not support a site that would treat someone who has done so much in support of this site (and me personally) the way they have treated Heidita. I hope to be able to talk to you again on Skype.

Chris y Vicente, ha sido un placer compartir con vosotros tantas horas y momentos con este hilo. Yo personalmente he aprendido mucho de "La palabra del día" y por eso os doy las gracias a vosotros dos así como a todos los que alguna vez me han ayudado, me han corregido o simplemente han leído mi frase.

Pero en fin, como dicen por aquí: TODO LO BUENO SE ACABA!

Chris, and DrVicente, I offer once again my deepest appreciation for all the help and experience I received by your gracious efforts.

All things come to an end. I just wish this episode had not come to its end for these disgraceful reasons. However, if mutual suffering strengthens the bonds we had so far assumed, we now know for certain how much has been lost.

The patient is dying and there isn't a doctor in the house. Help!!

To the staff --- is there no a way to settle these grievances? One week ago this was the best language learning site in the world. It seems like an opportunity lost if you can't bend enough to make the moderators and users feel like they share in the success story and to provide due recognition.

To the veterans --- it seems that there are enough of you leaving that you can create an entirely new site, where games, a sense of a support community, and a mix of fluent English and Spanish speakers support each other. Please come and get me when there is a new place where I can find all of you again.

To those that remain --- I will be here, small consolation though it is.
