  • I can see your point Sonrisa, why let the site owners profit from all your hard work, let them write their own guides now they have paid people todo it all. - MaryMcc Feb 13, 2012 flag
  • I think you could still edit your own posts. Erase what you had written there, replace it with a 'please delete' message? - mathslover Feb 13, 2012 flag

Does anyone else feel like they are going to be sick right now? I do.

  • Actually some people seem remarkably happy at the moment! I'm not sure the people asking the questions are though! - billygoat Feb 13, 2012 flag
  • I do feel a bit sick thinking of all you hard work going down the drain Sonrisa. But at least they're just the moderators of a website and they're not in government or anything. Running around, burning schools, churches and cafés. - rabbitwho Feb 13, 2012 flag

Did you not know that once you put good stuff out there, it becomes the property of new owners (and you will have no residual rights)?

Yes, I was always aware of this. However, I guess the majority of us felt that the owners and powers that appreciated (even in some small way) all of the time and effort that were put into making this site a nice place to be. I know I would be indebted to anyone who provided such services out of the kindness of their hearts.

The expression "taken for granted" does not even begin to cover the way we all feel.

Ah, Smile of the Sun! Did you not know that once you put good stuff out there, it becomes the property of new owners (and you will have no residual rights)? The last time that I signed such an agreement (intellectual property aka results of hard work), at least I was well paid and understood what I was giving away. But I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that you never thought that you would see your hard work & bright mind be used without your consent (how about monetary compensation), did you? I will admit my error if, indeed, your request is fulfilled with a big thank you from the powers that be ... I am so annoyed I could chew nails and spit rust!

  • Legally, there are many things they do N O T have automatic intellectual property rights to! - territurtle Feb 14, 2012 flag

I was hoping someone would bring up the intellectual property rights issue.

I will say no more about it in this public forum, but I sincerely hope everyone who visits this site give it serious consideration excaim

I'm guessing the reason users have gone to the trouble of writing reference pieces is to help other users learn more about Spanish. Why worry about getting some kind of revenge on the owners to the detriment of the members. I know Sonrisa is coming from a more positive intent, to make SD as good as it can be.

I have no problem letting the owners of the site use it, but all my photos are gone. Plus, a majority the comments on them are from users who have left.

I'll consider making a new one. Perhaps during March break.
