to take or have a nap -> echar una cabezada or una siesta
My last reply. If Heidita and Lazaurs leave, so will I. Maybe it's time for a new generation of foreros. Wish you the best with your Spanish studies!
After all, if Heidtia goes, so does the Dunce Corner and where would I live?
- Gracias, qfreed! - sanlee Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Dang, would you consider PM'ing me Q? I tried PM'ing you but you don't accept PMs apparently. I understand if you don't, though. - webdunce Feb 13, 2012 flag
- I agree with this request, I'm anne@ stormhillstud.com . I answer all e-mail! - annierats Feb 13, 2012 flag
- wow, I will send you a letter tomorrow, quen, this was unexpected...thanks for your support:) - Heidita Feb 13, 2012 flag
This will be my last post probably. Get used to the new Spanishdict, with a lot less native speakers.
A lot of posts and no one gets it 100% correct.
"Voy a echarme una siesta, y cuando me despierte, espero que (todo esto) haya sido solo una pesadilla".

- I agree...we don't have any Spanish moderators. Looking at today's threads, I see that nothing has been corrected. - MLucie Feb 13, 2012 flag
- "a lot fewer" for sticklers. - samdie Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Nobody feels like doing any correcting anymore - leave it the new moderators I say. - ian-hill Feb 13, 2012 flag
- and you of course, amigo mio, C I N C O nativos que se van, los unicos que en realidad contestaban preguntas....:( - Heidita Feb 13, 2012 flag
- I don't think "a lot fewer" is accurate, unfortunately. What moderators are native Spanish speakers now? - MLucie Feb 13, 2012 flag
Hola Sanlee!
- I think you need 'me' and espero! A lo menos! - annierats Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Hi Annie, notice the "me" before "despierte", and "esperar", the infinitive form of "espero". I left "esperar" in the infinitive to match "echar/tomar" (parallelism). If you have a better suggestion, I'm sure the original poster would love to see it. - StuartSD Feb 13, 2012 flag
- I think Annie is right. I would say: "Voy a echarme una siesta y espero que solo haya sido una pesadilla cuando me despierte". - Cordobesa Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Surely it should be "cuando me despierto"? when I wake up, me despierte does't make sense to me , what does it mean? - kenwilliams Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Hi Cordobesa, that sounds good to me. I just asked a friend from Ecuador who lives in Miami. - StuartSD Feb 13, 2012 flag
I would say: voy a tomar una siesta y cuando despierte espero que fue una pesadilla.
- No, dear boy, go back to your studies.. - annierats Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Hi Annie, Luis is a native speaker. While the grammar may not be technically right, he has the background to suggest a helpful response. Criticism is fine, but please help move the conversation forward by making it constructive. - StuartSD Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Native or not isn't this site all about correct grammar? As a native English person I would expect to be corrected if I used bad English Grammar. - kenwilliams Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Corrections are great! We just want to keep the tone cordial and positive so everyone feels comfortable practicing and learning. - StuartSD Feb 13, 2012 flag
- I agree!!! Offer corrections, but be polite about it. - NikkiRivera Feb 13, 2012 flag
Billy Goat is asking for the "Wizard of OZ to fly you back to Kansas, would the
"Lizard of OZ " do as a substitute , I do not do miracles but I am a dab-hand at
hope and good visions for the future , so have a gentle sleep dear friend and
awake in a world of Lizardry loveliness.
- what is Lizardry loveliness Ray? - Spenco Feb 13, 2012 flag
- I laughed at the "Lizard of OZ"! Goodness you sure know how to play with words, appropriately too! - mathslover Feb 13, 2012 flag

I'm going to take a nap and when I wake up I hope that it was a bad dream.
When I woke up it was not a bad dream, but it was real.
I'm going to take a nap and when I wake up I hope that it was a bad dream.
Sorry Luissito and Stewart SD for my ignorance I wasn't thinking subjunctive clause.
I will take a nap now and hope that when I awaken I find that all of this was only a bad dream.
¡Yo también!
