Podemos irnos, ya tengo el dinero.
We can go, I now have the money.
I don't think we'll arrive on time, it's already late.
¡Ya está! Lo he encontrado.
Here it is! I've found it.
¡Francisco! ¡Ya voy, mamá!
Francisco! I'm coming, mom!
Preparados, listos,... ¡ya!
Ready, set,.... go!
This is all I can do for now... Thanks for the question!
¡Franciso! ¡Ya voy mama!
=Francis!" , "I'm coming, mom!" Or "I'm coming now, mom!
"Ya pongo yo la mesa, no te preocupes."
="I already set the table, don't worry."
- The first one is right, but the second one is more like "I'll set the table in a second" ya can be used to introduce an offer like this. You can tell it's an offer because the present tense is used to talk about the future, not the past - rabbitwho Feb 13, 2012 flag
- Also the "yo" is saying "i'll set it, me, no one else has to do it!" because pronouns always mean "me and no one else" in Spanish - rabbitwho Feb 13, 2012 flag
I interpret the rules to mean we can't look up words that we don't know, so here is my try:
How unfair that they have taken your work? (echar=?) Yes, but, what are we going to do about it? (pero should not be capitalized; I almost confused it with a name)
Drats! We have so many things and when we need them, we (find that we) had thrown them away. (Fijate=?, tirar=?) That's for sure!!
I think that the ? has robbed us. (contable=?) You don't say, but what can we do?
The exam is on the 27th. I know, I know!!
We can help you during your vacation. Thank you, during my vacation I am going to need help.
We can go with you, now that we have money.
I don't think that we will arrive on time, it is already very late.
That's so true. I have heard about it.
Look, I can advise you, help you with many things, but to go to the ? with you, well this, is another thing. (entrevista = ?)
I believe that you were prepared for this job. But if they are going to give it to you, well, nobody knows. (coger=?)
San Francisco! I'm going there, mom!
Make haste and get serving the food.
If you cannot cry now, you have lost your tears.
Prepared, ready, ... yes!
Wait a moment, I am doing something else, I will give it to you soon. (ya mismo=?)
I am going to leave the table. Tell me about it!! I did it much later.
What have you done! (should it be ¿Qué haces? ) You left, and now you want to rejoin us. It is that I stayed to help you order a little (?)
I'm going to set the table, don't worry about it!!
- How unfair that they have fired you! Yeah (ya), But what are we going to do about it (le) now?
- Look! We've done so much for him, and when we need him, he flakes out. Yeah, yeah, I agree
I used to make this mistake of not noticing who was being spoken about all the time too, don't worry ![]()
- I think that the accountant is cheating us. Yeah, but what can we do?
No, si ya = I already know, you don't have to tell me
El examen es el 27.
¡Que ya, que ya!
- I already know I already know!!! *
Sure, you're going to help me during the holidays. (I'm being sarcastic, I don't believe you)
Podemos irnos, ya tengo el dinero.
- We can go out, I have the money now.
Right!
- I don't think we'll arrive on time, it's already late.
Right!
¡Ya está! Lo he encontrado.
- Done! I found it.
Right!
- Look, I can advise you, help you in many things, but to go to the interview with you, that's the limit... that's for you to do.
Right!
¡Francisco! ¡Ya voy, mamá!
- Francisco! I'm coming, Mom!
Right!
Daos prisa que ya sirvo la comida.
- Hurry up, dinner is served now.
Right! (hurry up, I am serving dinner now) *
- If it doesn't stop raining already, the harvest will be lost.
Preparados, listos,... ¡ya!
- Ready, set... go!
Right!
- Wait a moment, I'm printing something else... I'll take it out right away.
Right!
Voy a quitar la mesa.
¡Déjalo! Ya lo hago yo más tarde.
- I'm going to clear the table. Leave it! I'll do it later
Right! You can see here that ya is used in offers a lot.
- What are you doing! Leave it, we'll pick up. It's just I would like to help you all clean up the room.
I translated "es que" as "it's just" you always use it to make excuses.
I'll set the table, don't worry.
Right!
Hi rabbitwho and all others,
I have given it a try as well
Here are my sentences:
What injustice that they have fired you from work. Yeah. But, what are we going to do?
Imagine. We did our best for so many things and when we need them, we don't even know where we have put them. You're right!
Nope, take a look at Mistivers answer, he nearly got it.
I think the accountant has robbed us. Could be. But, what can we do?
See Mstivers
The exams are on the 27th. I know, I know!
Right! Well done!
We can help you during the holidays. Ok, during the holidays you are going to help me.
Right BUT the person saying "ok" is being sarcastic, so it's more like yeah yeah yeah
We can go, I now have the money.
Right
I don't believe we'll arrive in time, for it is already late.
right
Here it is! I have found it. right!
Look, I can give you advice and help you with many things, but going to the meeting with you ... that's the limit .... it's your job.
I think you are prepared for this job. But whether you get it or not, I can't say that is a thing that nobody knows. here ya is expressing a limit, so it's saying that is the limit of what I can say
Francisco! I am going already, mama! I'm already going / I'm going now/ I'll go in a second.
Hurry you all because I have already served diner. Right
If it doesn't stop raining now, the harvest will be lost. right!
On your marks, ready .... go!
Right! Wait a moment, I am printing something else, but I will take it out for you right away.
I am going to clear the table. Leave it! I will do it later.
What are you doing? Leave it, as we are going to clean it up ourselves. It's because I wanted to help you by tidying the room a little.
right!
I will set the table in a second, so don't worry.
I have gone back and used all available means (including the posts by mstivers and mcl020 and feedback corrections from rabbitwho) to translate and state the meaning of ya, in each case. That is -- this is the answer sheet, and not my first try (which is posted below.)
- What injustice that they have fired you from work! Yeah. But, what are we going to do? (echar = to throw. ya = agreement)
- Imagine that! We did so many things for him, and now that we need him, he lets us down (literally, “leaves us pulling"). That’s for sure. (fijarse en = to pay attention, notice something tirar = pull, ya = agreement)
Yo creo que el contable nos está robando. No, si ya... Pero ¿qué podemos hacer? - I think the accountant has robbed us. You don't need to tell me, I already know. But, what shall we do? (no si ya = You don't need to tell me, I already know.)
El examen es el 27. ¡Que ya, que ya! - The exams are on the 27th. I know, I know! (ya here adds emphasis)
- We can help you during the holidays. Yeah, right, you're going to help me during the holidays. (ya indicates sarcasism, "yeah, yeah")
Podemos irnos, ya tengo el dinero. - We can go with you, I now have the money. (Here ya is more "before no, now yes" so it's like "now I have the money")
- I don’t think we can arrive on time, it’s very late. (ya means already here, it's already very late)
¡Ya está! Lo he encontrado. - Here it is! I found it. (again ya is like "before no, now yes", it's the result of having looked for the thing)
Look, I can give you advice and help you with many things, but going to the interview with you ... well .... it's your job. (here ya is marking a limit)
- I think you are prepared for this job. But whether or not you get it, THAT nobody knows. (again here ya marks a limit, it says "I have told you all i can tell you". coger = to pick up)
¡Francisco! ¡Ya voy, mamá! - Francisco! I am on my way, mama! - Hurry up, I’m already serving the food. - If it doesn’t stop raining soon, we will loose the crops. (ya = right now)
Preparados, listos,... ¡ya! - Ready, set, go! (ya = right now)
- Wait a moment, I’m printing something but I will take it out for you right away (ya = now)
Voy a quitar la mesa. ¡Déjalo! Ya lo hago yo más tarde. - I am going to clear the table. leave it, I will do so later. (ya is used for an offer here)
¡Qué haces! Tú quédate, que ya recogemos nosotros. - Don’t do that (literally, what are you doing)! Leave it, we will clean it. (Ya = reassurance. recoger= to pick up, clean, clear)
It’s that I wanted to help you all tidy the room.
- I will set the table, don’t worry. (here ya is like now or soon, again it's being used for an offer)
