ASK A QUESTION Mystery sentence of the night 88: ¡Ponme un completo!
So, this happened tonight actually, we were in a different bar this time, which has a couple of tables to sit down and have a proper dinner, so the waitress asked the other waiter behind the bar the following...what did she mean? We had to look ....we had no idea, jeje
jeje So let's see what you can make of this one.
And I just know those great guessers will have a go at it, I am always surprised that you finally come up with an answer!
If a native has no idea, then guess too, jeje, I was often quite lost when Gekko said some of his sentences.
Anyway, if you are sure, don't say anything until more members have tried their luck![]()

Dessert for four; something to complete (completo) the meal? Maybe ice cream.

- Reina, if this is impossible to guess, what's the point? jeje Perhaps "highly improbable" to guess? ;-) - cristalino Feb 9, 2012 flag
- Cristalino maybe we will have more chance of being correct after Heidi has given us a few clues lol - FELIZ77 Feb 10, 2012 flag

ponme ? give me ? un completo ? a complete ? para cuatro ? for 4.... para would mean for people ?
Since you mentioned that there were only a couple of tables there for "a proper dinner" I think what she wanted was for him to give her one of the tables that could seat four people.
"With these four we are full'.

I know here in the Colonies we have Chinese (perhaps other ethnicities too) restaurants where you can order a specially-prepared meal which feeds four persons... I'm guessing they have the portions already weighed out and it just needs to be "thrown" together once the order is placed... very common here! ![]()

Give me a full meal for four people. 3 or more courses = un completo
Give me a break! - there is not enough room for 4 more people,
This is a tricky one no doubt lol
Ponme is obiously the imperative form of poner giving the barman an order!
íPonme un completo para cuatro!
= Do me (ie:give me) a complete order for 4 people!
This may be way out but it was worth a try lol
Set me a table for four for dinner.

"Give me the special of the night for a table of four"

- genial la idea, y un beso por el hilo de ayer, marshi, pero noooooo, no es correcto:) - Heidita Feb 10, 2012 flag
Gotta start simple.
means:
Set me a table for four.
She's telling them to prepare the table for four people.
either that or it's some type of food or food order that four people want, which would be a weird food

Give me a box seat for four people. ...I am just guessing, but maybe it is a sporting event and he is buying great seats for 2 couples.
Another take on this could be " They laid the whole bill on me for the four of them to eat "
Maybe. "Give me a complex dinner for four persons"
Maybe ... give me a table for four laid with the full complement, as for a proper dinner.
