ASK A QUESTION la violencia
I know that violence occurs everywhere in the world...
There was a human/dog/machete fight on our corner at midnight this evening. There were injured bodies, injured feelings, and one dead dog.
Person A was walking his dog at midnight when the dog belong to Person B attacked the dog belonging to Person A. Things got nasty quickly, with Person A kicking Person B's dog, along with Person B kicking and punching Person A, with the entire event ending up one huge blur of people and dogs. A neighbor with a machete ran out and killed Person B's dog, which put a damper on things immediately.
At that point Person A was quite injured on the ground and Person B was sitting in a dejected lump next to his dog.
The police, fire department and an ambulance arrived. Someone escorted Person A's dog home, Person A was loaded into the ambulance and Person B was still sitting next to his dog the last I knew.
The neighbor with the machete had vanished.
I am quite certain that another neighbor who functions somewhat as "the Voice of the Neighborhood" will have the entire story by the time I leave the house tomorrow.
Why am I putting this on Spanishdict? Good question. I suppose it's partially to debrief myself before I go to bed (my husband threw in the towel after the ambulance left) and partially to remind anyone who takes the time to read this that our lives can change in the blink of an eye. Be careful, do your best to protect your life and the lives of others.

I have a dog, and this is one of my fears. My dog is always on a leash - he's a retired racing greyhound so doesn't really know how to play anyway, all he wants is his bed a couple of short walks each day.
We live quite near some fields where many people take their dogs. Quite a lot of the dogs are off the leash and run around with no problems at all. However, I have heard of at least 2 people who have had their dogs attacked recently. It's such a shame because I don't really like my teenage daughter walking the dog alone now. I know for a fact she would protect him as much as she could - and would possibly receive serious injuries herself. Nevertheless, I know she would do anything to protect him.
Sooooooooooo, who's the mug out twice a day in the freezing cold walking the dog -- yep you guessed it lol.
By the way, I'm no hero and not as brave as her either lol, if it happened I would probably try to release him from his lead so he could run home. I know he knows the way home because he's slipped his lead by accident in the past and run home lol. I wouldn't want to risk my daughter having to deal with this though.
- Yes, we really do love our animals, and as they get older we try to protect them. You're right, though, to take the lead and walk the dog! - mountaingirl Feb 4, 2012 flag
