Hola

I have met these these 3 words tempranímismo, tardímismo, muchímismo. and I wonder if there rules for using it, and what other words can I use it with?

Muchas gracias

  • None of those three end in ísimo. (is th suffix mismo or ismo?) - qfreed Feb 2, 2012 flag

could you give some other words

In theory I guess you could add it to pretty much any adjective, like adding the -ito dimminutive. That's how it gets overused. But you'll hear things like:

Esta comida está buenísima.
Es una oferta grandísima.

-ísimo is a suffix that turns an adjective into a superlative:

mucho = much, muchísimo = very much
temprano = early, tempranísimo = very early
tarde = late, tardísimo = very late

It can be added to a lot of words. Some people over-use it.

As Kevin said, ísimo is used to emphasize just how "early" or "late" something really is. You can translate the "ísimo" as "very" or "super" or whatever other superlative you desire. As in your example of "tempranísimo" we could translate that as "really early", "very early", "super early", etc. Hope this helps smile
