I am fed up with hearing that the superlative of "bad" is "the worst". And I wonder why "the baddest" cannot be possible.

It is the worst movie I have seen in my life.- Es la peor película que he visto en mi vida

It is the baddest movie I have seen.- Es la película más mala que en mi vida

Then, it would be possible.

And also "badder", "gooder", "the goodest".

I would thank your answers.

The baddest movie I've ever seen = the best movie I've ever seen. Always. It is never used to mean negative when "baddest" is used, only worst means negative.

I appreciate your rant Nila. I'm in agreement. In the case of "baddest", it might be an offshoot of gangsta talk. "Bad" is good, and "Baddest" can be best. These things will pass.

  • "Bad" is good. ???? If it weren't because everybody agrees with this... From my point of view, it is an strange answer. - nila45 Jan 31, 2012 flag

Well, after all you don't say 'goodest' either. Very common and frequently used words and verbs tend to be irregular in all the languages I know. The reason(s) why go(es) far back in the linguistic past.

Are you similarly annoyed by "mejor" and "peor"?

  • Well, that is not the problem. What happens is that I thought that it could be other possibilities and I felt obliged to guess that. Anyway, from now on, I will always use "better" and "worst". - nila45 Jan 31, 2012 flag
