In Denver, we use "cotoneta" for Q-tip but I need the verb for "to swab" in this sense. Gracias!

"To swab" is created from the noun "swab," so this term is a bit idiomatic. In Spanish, there various names for the noun "cotton swab," but the verb you are talking about is just "limpiar."

From a medical Spanish podcast: Le voy a frotar dentro de la garganta.

  • Sheily, are you sure you heard it correctly? I agree that "frotar" is another option, but doing this inside the throat could choke or cause someone to vomit - JulianChivi Jan 26, 2012 flag
