Costa Rica is very nice and a very accommodating country and people. The cost of living is also reasonable. Panama is another option with an American influence for almost one hundred years, there are a lot of people who can speak some English, this is also a good point in favor on Puerto Rico.
You don't want to go to school in some country where almost no one speaks English as if you need assistance it will be more difficult. The knowledge that you should be able to find someone that can speak English in case of an emergency will make you feel more relaxed and help you enjoy your surroundings a bit more.

Mariana really likes the one in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Instituto Cultural Oaxaca

Valerie went to one in Guatemala and it cost more to fly there than to stay there and take the courses.

There are many places like that. Seems to me to be the way to go.

I'm looking into this for myself and the CPI Spanish Immersion School in Costa Rica looks very interesting. The have 3 campuses in Costa Rica, and your choice of a school residency or staying with a host family. There are many choices of hours-per-day in school, number of weeks, etc. Cheers,

I tried several schools and books and finally found a great set of books from "The Warren Hardy School" in San Miguel de Allende Mexico. I would love the chance to study at the school just because their books are incredible.

Since you live in Miami, you should be able to find plenty of people to practice with that are native speakers....I believe that gintar77grew up in Miami (he usually posts a picture of the day). So, maybe you could ask him for some suggestions.
