Musicians serenade the new dead.

What is this musical form? or what might one call it in Spanish or English?

¿Que musica es esta? ¿Como se la podia llamar? Algunas ideas alguien?

Hi Martin-Rizzi,

What I found on the net is that the music used differs per region. In some regions they may use music the deceased person preferred, in other more traditional music. Here is where I read that:

Hope this is an answer to your question.

Saludos, Chica

I have a Skype call tomorrow morning with my Mexican friend Normita. She was a singer, recorded 4 CD's, and has an interest in traditional Mexican music. I already sent her the link.

How did the waltz get into Mexico folk music?

And let's not forget the polka!

Although truly traditional (Mayann, Incan, etc) music is revived by many small groups wherever possible, the great bulk of Latin music - virtually all of it, really - has its roots across the Atlantic.

Here is another musical offering to the new dead on November 2.

How did the waltz get into Mexico folk music?

Surely Max and Carlota did not bring it with them ??¿¿

Hey Martin,
