ASK A QUESTION sin llega vs. sin llegar

The direct object "la" stands for "la puerta."
La cerró lo más rápido que pudo sin llega; a parecer grosero.
I thought after all prepositions if there is a verb it must be in the infinitive form.
Is this an exception?
Also, what does sin llega mean in this sentence? Without doing what exactly?
