This is a common construction (___|_ y yo) to try to "trick" beginning Spanish students. Try to approach it logically. Translating "Beatriz y yo" gives "Beatriz and I". In English, this could be stated as "we". Going back to Spanish, the word for we is nosotros. The verb we are using is "ir". Ir in the nosotros is vamos, and hence vamos goes in the slot.

awww. thanks. i'll keep at it. btw, how long have u been taking spanish'

woww. thank you. But you sed that "ir" was used in the sentence but it's not though. Is it like a given & I just don't know? And wen Spanish is translated into English, the sentence doesn't always follow the rules of English grammar, obviously, so how do you know how the sentence is formed'

lol, 2 and a half years... i know this sounds retarded, partial b/c it is... but just speak spanish to EVERYTHING in your house... and ur family.. and DONT focus on correctness... just get comfortable with the vocab that you do know.... it helps a million! and you'll sound smart... the more you do it, the more your brain thinks SPANISH!!!!! and you'll most like get better grammar (and definitely pronunciation!)

Q: You said that ir is used in the sentence, but its not, right? Is it a given?
A: Right, I was referring to the answers. It's not a given.

Q: Since it's not always a word for word translation, how do you know how to form the sentence?
A: In simple phrases (like Beatriz and I) the translation is usually word for word. This also applies to relatively easy sentences (Beatriz and I are going to the beach).

ir to go is an irregular verb
voy I go,
vas you go (familiar)
