ASK A QUESTION Flooding in my village in Western Massachussets
I don't know if this will interest my Spanish Dict friends, but it sure has my attention. This video was made very near my house; I live right across the river. The river came up something like 12', and you can see in the video a small pink one story building which was swept downstream. Normally this body of water is tranquil, like a lake. There is a power line over the river upstream, and the water was so high that the branches from a tree that was being swept down hooked the power line, and the telephone poles holding it up on either side of the river both snapped right out of the ground. We had to evacuate, and I think the house will be OK, although the basement may be a bit spongy.
We had almost no wind, just lots of rain, and the ground was already saturated from a wet summer. The river won't crest for another 8 hours or so.

Hmmm, I can't see a video, but that sounds frightening ![]()
Jeremias, I live northeast of your area in New Hampshire. We were spared with only a little wind damage to trees, nothing so drastic as that. I hope all is well when you can return home.
That looks scary, I've seen the power of flood water and it is awesome, I do hope you are safe.
Best of luck to you and your family. Update us .
Good luck my friend! Is a horrible news
WIsh you the best, Jeremias! I also live in Mass, in Boston, and the hurricane didn't hit as hard here as it did in the video, but we still had lots of water, very strong winds and quite some flooding due to overworked sewers.
Be well, and keep us posted!
