ASK A QUESTION which is the best place in Spain that deserves travelling? :)

So many places, so little time.
My favorites: Madrid (amazing architecture, parks, culture, restaurants), Barcelona (amazing architecture - Gaudí - food, culture), Zaragoza (great cathedral, great food), Tarifa (great beaches, wind surfing, surfer culture), Sevilla (great history/architecture/flaménco), Toledo (great history/architecture), Segovia (amazing Roman aqueduct and suckling pig) and San Sebastián and the Basque region (great architecture, food, culture).
I know that that doesn't narrow it down for you. Spain is really interesting and every place is different and unique. You should see as much as possible, but also try not to over-do it. You can always return!
- I'm surprised you didn't include Granada - lazarus1907 Aug 5, 2011 flag
- have you been in all that places?? - Giwrgos Aug 5, 2011 flag
- Spent a great summer in Blanes one year - lots of small town charm! - cristalino Aug 5, 2011 flag
- I took a number of vacations there and lived there in 2010, but never made it to Granada. It is impossible to see everything. - JoyceM Aug 5, 2011 flag
I think every Spanish member will tell you something different. My (mandatory) suggestion is Barcelona but that's because I'm a little biased.
What about las Islas Canarias? Anyone able to comment on this destination? Anything that has to do with islands seems enchanting, ¿que no?

Madrid of course.![]()

I am travelling to La Palma soon, la isla bonita, any of the Spanish islands is recomendable.

En realidad depende del gusto de turista, pero en Granada y en Toledo hay todo. Paisaje maravilloso, museos, arquitectura excelente . Fui encantada allí.
Really it depends on you taste of tourist, but in Granada and Toledo you can find everything. Wonderful scenery, museums, excellent architecture . I was enchanted there.

It depends on what you want to see: monuments? lots of tourists? old style towns? modern cities? nice beaches?

well i love anything about spain and especially i have never seen before :D
Mallorca was really fun. I rented a motorcycle and rode all over the island. There were lots of cool seaside villages. Palma is the largest city and has a lot of stuff to do.
I love Barcelona too but then I know it better than anywhere else. I don't think I have been any where in Spain and felt disappointed.
Here's the deal. It entirely depends on what you like to do. What has been your best vacation at home?
Many people are content to sit in a tapas bar anywhere in Spain and have a beer and a tortilla (not like the Mexican kind). That is something that you must do, but that is by far not the only thing to do in Spain. Other people love night clubs and many people go to Spain in the summer because the nightlife is incredible.
However, if that is all you do, you are missing a fabulous opportunity to learn about three religions who lived together reasonably well for hundreds of years and then didn't, about Phoenician, Roman and Arabic history, about art and architecture and opera (which is more popular in Madrid that Broadway-style musicals).
And if you like hiking and are at least the slightest bit interested in your spiritual journey of life, I would encourage you to spend at least a day hiking the old Pilgrim trails in the north. Unlike wilderness hiking trails in the U.S., the "Camino" is an often stone paved trail through vineyards, sheep meadows and picturesque villages along the rocky coastline. El Camino de Santiago.
