Hello, I have some friends who are thinking of naming a baby boy Luca or Luka. Another friend said thats not okay because in Spanish luca can be another name for Lucifer (we all live in Mexico). Is this true? Would you name your kid Luca?
Thanks for your help,
Liana

I'm not aware of such connection to Lucifer, sometimes this thinks are more cultural, the meaning of one word in one country could be different to the meaning in another country even if they speak the same language. The name Lucas (with the 's' at the end) is the name of one of the apostles of the Bible. I would associate the name you brought up with it. But I'm from Puerto Rico, so it could be different in Mexico.

Do you know that they had a hard time selling Chevy Novas in Mexico because the associated Nova with the phrare 'no va' wich means literally 'no go'? I guess they figured: Who wants to buy a car that won't go. This is just one example of the cultural differences.
