ASK A QUESTION Which are the most popular Spanish Songs Ever ?
Contribute by giving your 2 most favourite singers name from each spanish speaking country that you know of and not more than 10 of your favourite song names. If possible, please give the full lyrics. I want to know because I am very interested in Spanish songs. My favourite are Shakira and Enrique whose many songs I know and can sing too. My favourite songs are 'Moscas en la casa" "estoy aqui", "ojos asi", "esperanza", "Desnudo", "Alguin como tu" Thanks in Advance.

Are not lyrics copyrighted material. We may quote some part of them but I don't think we can post the whole thing. Some music you can use 175 years after the death of the composer (if I recall it correctly, but things like this may change).
- It is 75...I remember that being said when Sinatra died - Ann-Frances Dec 1, 2010 flag
Zoltán,
You may be right, but I copied & pasted the lyrics from another site, which copied them from somewhere else, so I doubt there is a problem.
Thank you all. I think there have to be more songs and singers. So I need more recommendations. Do keep 'em coming...
I like Juanes

They even have the words
Let me know whether you are interested in classic songs. some of them are jewels: poetic, descriptive, such as
Amores de estudiante,
flores de un dia son.
Millie,
i've been looking for a beautiful song. The composer received a posthumous award at the 2007 latin grammies. All I know is that his first name is Ernesto. I've checked web sites for the grammies but they don't mention that award. Any idea who it might be? I think it's an old song.
Valentin Elizalde received a posthumous nomination after he was murdered. Hmm. will keep checking. you've piqued my interest.
Y me gusta el titulo del vals 'Yo no se que me hecho tus ojos'.
Every now and then I practice my Spanish by translating a tango. I will attach two here. They contain links to performances of the song on Todo Tango, which is where I find the Spanish lyrics. Since some tangos have words in Lunfardo (sort of old fashioned BsAs street slang), I sometimes have to cheat a little by looking at the translations on Planet Tango but these two were fairly straight forward. Although I do have one question for those who know. I notice that lines often begin with 'Si' but it does not always seem natural to translate that as 'If'. What's with that?
I would be grateful for any comments on my translations.I suspect I'm often a bit literal. I can post others if there is interest..
I know no-one asked for more but I started looking at 'Sobre el pucho' and I have some questions for those who understand more Spanish than I. I have attached the lyrics with my translation. My questions are at the end of the document. I find this a good way to get into the grammar and idioms. I'll probably end up speaking a very peculiar kind of Spanish!
Thanks Dan and everyone else. What do you guys think of Shakira and Enrique. So far they are the only Spanish Singers I know of.
they are cool, I guess Other than Mana, i like stuff my parents grew up with...
if you want to hear an amazing voice go to Javier solis for bolero type music
I like a group Called DLG- Dark Latin Groove Celia Cruz
Leo Dan
What kind of music do you like overall'''
Well, it's more like English than mine! It is a wonderful song. Have you seen the movie where Gardel sings it? Esteban Morgada, an Argentine guitarist, has a song and album called 'Cuesta arriba', which is cute. BTW how would you say that first sentence in Spanish? Can you say 'mas como que''
Has anyone heard Enrique's song 'Esperanza'. I want to know if he is singing to hope or to a girl named hope.
I think he is singing to a girl but my Spanish teacher told that he is singing to Hope. I am still not convinced.
Can anyone elaborate'
