Three books by Isabel Allende written for young people: City of the Beasts, Kingdom of the Golden Dragon, and Forest of the Pygmies.
I would recommend any book that you're familiar with and and know that you enjoy enough that you can spend hours looking up words without getting bored and giving up

I also suggest a trip to your local library: go to the children's section and borrow fairy tales. There are many books that are in English/Spanish.
I also have subscriptions to People (in Spanish). Nice read and the added benefit of becoming conversant in Latino pop culture.
Google fusion reader (free download) and you can download a side-by-side bilingual text of a short book called The Bicycle Thief. The format is great.

I don't know any books to read but there are some exercise book callaed something like listos and it has questions e.c.t.
They have realy helped me out.
I teach Spanish to a few people and I have found that "Spanish Vocabulary by McGraw Hill" has worked great for beginners. It teaches Grammar and Vocabulary and Gives exercises after every lesson and also gives paragraphs in Spanish along with questions about the passage. I highly recommend it! ![]()
All the Practice Makes Perfect books by McGraw hill are great!
They aren't books for reading, but they help a lot!
Get a beginner's dual reader, Childern's book like translations of Dr. Suess.
