The word you are looking for is either "estar" or "ser". To choose which one is one part of spanish which can be confusing, include the rest of your sentence so we can help you with which verb to choose.
It depends on what you are talking about. If you are talking about how they are feeling or where they are right now (they are sad, they are tired, they are at home, they are not here, ect) "están" If you are using it to describe where they are from, or to describe "the norm" (they are from New York, they are hard headed, they are rich) use "son"
"Mi abuelo y abuela son ricos." My grandfather and grandmother are rich.
"Mi abuelo y abuela están triste" My grandfather and grandmother are sad.
I am looking to say that this
My grandmother and grandfather are very friendly and outgoing. What would I use for that?
Mi abuela y abuelo son muy simpáticos y abiertos.
- extrovertido o abierto. I'm not sure exactly a good word for "outgoing". - robisonj9309 Apr 13, 2011 flag
