Ok, I've been texting with a new Ecuadorian friend and she said the phrase, "ya saben cualquier cosa" (and she was referring to me and two other friends.) What does this mean? i can translate all the words but they don't make sense to me.

  • Could you give us a little more about the context in which he said that? Because depending of what you were doing it could mean many different things. - sExxY_n1njA_ Apr 4, 2011 flag

ya saben cualquier cosa

This is usually said along with something else. Typical example: "Ya saben, cualquier cosa me llaman". Generally this is used when you want to be notified about something.

In my example, let's say your buddies have been trying to come up with a plan for something to do Friday night. Maybe go to the movies, go bowling, go skating, or going to the pub. In the end you need to leave, but no one has managed to agree on anything. So as you leave you say: "Ya saben, cualquier cosa me llaman" - "So you know it guys, if you come up with something, give me a call".

Or if there's a sick friend at the hospital, and you went for a visit and want to be notified of his / her status: "Let me know if anything chances" - "Cualquier cosa me avisan".

  • Well, that would be different context... jeje. you're probably right. I'll ask my compa from Ecuador. By the way, I may go live there for the summer. =) - DJ_Huero Apr 5, 2011 flag
