I like to know what is an intransitive verb grammatical function and if usage in Spanish is different from that of English any way?

Here is a link to a Web Page at the University of Ottawa (in Canada) that deals with differences between Transitive and Intransitive verbs, in English. Here is the page ----> Trans/Intrans.

I suggest that the rules in Spanish and English are mainly the same.

An intransitive verb does not take an object.

"He died."

"I walked."

Passive verbs are intransitive:

"The rock was carried away."
