  • This would be an example of gender concordance or agreement... :) - cristalino Apr 4, 2011 flag

Yes, you use Estás lista with a girl.

¿estás listo, -a? -> are you ready?

Listo, -a

Hello praya and welcome to the Spanishdict forum grin

If I want to say that I am ready I would say, as a man: estoy listo

A girl or woman would say estoy lista

If I as a man ask a lady/girl are you ready, I would say: ¿Estás lista?

and she might reply: íSí, claro!, ¿estás listo? (Yes, of course! Are you ready?)

I hope this helps grin

You are asking a person if he\she is ready. listo(a) is an adjective so if you are asking a boy its listo and a girl its lista.

An adjective always agrees in number and gender with the noun that it modifies. In this case "listo/a" is an adjective and the (understood) "you" (the person being addressed) is the noun (pronoun, actually) that is being modified.
