When I try to view the lesson the quicktime player stops and i get a notice that I require an add-on , but it does not say which one I need.

The lessons here are flv or Flash video so you need something that allows you to play Flash video on Quicktime or to convert the Flv files to Quicktime format. There are many free Flash video players available for download so I'm not sure it's worth the time, but if you have to watch them using Quciktime the article below mentions several programs that allow you to do so. I would read how they work and then look for a free add-on from Quicktime to allow you to do what these programs do (I did not read the entire article to see whether they were shareware, freeware, commercial ware, etc.)
