Please could someone proof read a paragraph from my assignment on Millionaires and charity work

Question

I'm having a great deal of trouble with a particular section on my latest assignment.It is about why some multimillionaires are donating so much money to charity founding charities etc.

The essence of what I am trying to say is that many self made millionaires today are not automatically leaving their money to their children,but are encouraging them to make their own way in the world.

Specifically I am trying to use the English idiom "Clogs to clogs in three generations" and the Spanish idiom "Ponerse las botas" (to make a killing)

It just doesn't look right to me,but I can not work out what is wrong - many thanks.

Hola pintor. Te ofrezco unos puntos:

1) los pobres = the poor (this is plural)

2) se hace rico/ se enriquece

3) hoy (en) día (en is optional)

4) en cuanto a (with respect to, as regards)

5) los millonarios (quita la i después de la l)

6) no dejan la herencia/su dinero a sus hijos porque quieren que sus hijos "se pongan las botas," sin ayuda. (I put quotes to emphasize that you are using this figuratively, but of course, it is optional.)

P.S. No entendí qué quieres decir con "su bisnieto terminará en el arroyo." ¿Tal vez estás referiéndote a que los bisnietos no se benefician del dinero que dejó el abuelo (se quedan pobres/sin dinero)?
