Soy muy emocionado

is it correct to say "i am very excited" in this way?

If the penny didn't drop with Lazarus's reply you should say Estoy and not Soy and that is to say that you are excited about a coming event or how some things are unfolding etc. like for instance, Estoy muy emocionado porque creo que mi equipo de fútbol va a ganar el copa del rey. I am very excited because I think that my football team is going to win the kings cup.

"Ser" is used to classify. Are you classifying yourself as an excited person?

And Joe, since your profile says you are a girl - you should say "estoy muy emocionada' to mean you are very excited! LOL

Soy muy emocional .... vs. Estoy muy emocionado... I hope this example helps.
