My friend who just got back from Argentina says that the word for "ice" (which would be 'hielo') is their word for yellow (which would be 'amarillo') any truth to this?

If ice is yellow, don't eat it!

Dang I just got it hielo sounds like yellow and that's what his friend told him to say. Nevermind. At the time he was telling me this today I thought the word would be helado because I don't know that much Spanish yet!

Giallo == Yellow in Italian , the Argentine is influenced by large population of

Italians ,therefore it is conceivable that their word is ,Jialo.
