Sabor, we value our native Spanish speakers as if they were gold, because they are. Without them we would not be able to learn Spanish. It would be the blind leading the blind. The reason that so many posts are in English is because we are still learning Spanish and many of us do not have the capacity to express ourselves clearly and correctly in any language other than English.

Myself and others have individual Skype chats with native Spanish speakers where they work on their English skills as we work on our Spanish skills.

Please invite your friend. The vast majority of us are a very friendly bunch.

  • I think you are friendly and I like the site. That's why I invited her.(earlier today) How do we arrange for Skype chats? - Sabor Dec 22, 2010 flag
  • You can express yourself clearly and correctly in English? I envy you. - qfreed Dec 23, 2010 flag
  • There won't be a group one until the New Year, but if you PM me we can set up something separately. - Echoline Dec 23, 2010 flag
  • jeje...ditto to what qfreed said :) - Izanoni1 Dec 23, 2010 flag

Because quite simply more people on this site are native English speakers learning Spanish than native Spanish speakers learning English.

I'm native Spanish but I always try to use English on my posts as is the language I'm still learning.

For me it would be so much easier to post in Spanish, but in that way I won't learn from my mistakes smile

  • Good, but of course it would help us if you write in both. Bien, pero nos ayudaría si escribas en ambos. - pesta Dec 23, 2010 flag

Pues yo siempre posteo en español, ja,ja . Pero mis motivos son los mismos que los de la mayoría: a todos nos es más cómodo escribir en nuestro idioma materno. Tenemos que esforzarnos un poco más.

Spanishdict.com needs more native Spanish speakers who are learning English to sign on and post questions.

  • I invited one early today, but as I look around, I wonder if it will not seem friendly. - Sabor Dec 22, 2010 flag

Y... a lo mejor algunos de nostros estudientes de español estén perezosos. Preguntas en iglés son más faciles y claros contra de preguntas en español.

Sola una teoría. tongue rolleye (O quizas sola esté yo perezosa.)

  • quizás according to our dictionary - qfreed Dec 22, 2010 flag
  • estudiantes fáciles [inglés] Is only an adverb in those sentences? If so, it would be sólo or solo, but not sola. - qfreed Dec 22, 2010 flag
  • preguntas claras. Typos are more easy in Spanish which may be another reason. - qfreed Dec 22, 2010 flag
  • Wow! Thanks for the corrections, gfreed! =] I always forget to match up the genders between adjectives and nouns. At the very least, maybe I used the subunctive right! (I hope...) :) - Toast Dec 23, 2010 flag
  • no... I'm sorry.you're wrong in the mood and in the verb ( it should be ser, not estar) Somos perezosos. O quizás sea solo yo la perezosa. - cogumela Dec 23, 2010 flag

  • ...no importa si no tienen.... or ....no importa que no tengan..... - Izanoni1 Dec 23, 2010 flag
  • Creo que si usamos ambos linguas para cada "post," es mejor para todos. - JoyceM Dec 23, 2010 flag
  • I believe that if we use both languages for every post, it is better for everyone. - JoyceM Dec 23, 2010 flag
  • A mí no tiene sentido usar "no importa si no tienen o que no tengan". ¿Le importaría explicar esto a mí? - Jack-OBrien Dec 23, 2010 flag
