Hi. In spanish both sigo and yo translate to I. Are these words interchangeable or is there a rule as to when these words should be used?

Sigo: verb to follow, conjugated in the first person.

Yo: I

Thing is we don't use the personal subject pronoun in general so it looks as though sigo is I ...but that is not the case.
