This seems to be one of those tricky subjects where things aren't always the same in Spanish as they are in English - this reference article looks to be quite helpful.

I especially appreciated the information about a geographic name, when modified by an adjective, needs the article. Muchas gracias por el información!

  • Yes, it was a pretty comprehensive list. Thanks for posting. I like the examples of el señor XXX,etc. Most English speakers don't catch that the titles señor, señora, etc. are not capitalized, like we do Mr., Mrs., unless they are abbreviated. - qfreed Jan 17, 2012 flag
