ASK A QUESTION Mexican vernacular

Because most of the Spanish dictionaries published today are based on castillano, there are many terms used in every day Mexican speech which borrowed indian, french and other sources. One such word is-cesos( I'm guessing at the spelling, I've never seen it in print). I've used it for years. The Mexicans use it to mean 'common sense'. I would like to know its origin
and if it has ever found its way into print. Thanks, Jerry

As far as the origin I don't know but it is spelled sesos and I always understood it to mean brains.

Sally, thank you for the spelling and yes I've understood it as brains, but in the figuative sense, not the literal gray stuff between the ears.(-:
